Roofing services
Roofing services for homes in Chester and North Wales
From a single leaking tile to a full replacement, here is what we do and how we approach each job. Every service starts with an assessment and ends with a written scope.

New and replacement pitched roofs
A new covering is a big decision, so we begin with the roof you already have. We look at the condition of the slates or tiles, the battens and felt beneath, and the timbers that carry them, then explain whether repair, partial renewal or full replacement makes sense. Slate and tile are both discussed, with their different looks, weights and maintenance needs.
- Condition assessment of covering, battens and underlay
- Review of the existing structure before work is proposed
- Written scope covering materials, ridge, verge and flashing details

Roof repairs and leak investigation
Water rarely shows up where it enters, so we trace the cause before recommending a fix. Slipped tiles and slates, cracked or missing pieces, failed flashings and storm-related damage are all common causes and are often repairable without renewing the whole roof.
- Leak tracing, inside and out, before a repair is suggested
- Replacing slipped, cracked or missing tiles and slates
- Assessment of storm-related damage and temporary protection options

Flat roofing
Flat roofs need to shed water properly, whatever they are covered with. EPDM, GRP and felt systems each have strengths, and the right choice depends on the existing deck, the shape of the roof and how it will be used. We describe the options honestly and do not promise a specific lifespan.
- Inspection of the existing deck, falls and drainage
- EPDM, GRP and felt systems compared for your roof
- Edge trims, upstands and outlet details set out in the quote

Fascias, soffits and guttering
The roofline keeps rainwater moving away from your walls and closes the gap beneath the roof edge. Sagging gutters, rotten fascias and blocked outlets are easy to ignore until damp appears. We repair or replace as needed and explain what ongoing maintenance helps.
- Repair or replacement of fascias and soffits
- New guttering and downpipes with correct falls
- Maintenance advice to keep rainwater drainage clear

Chimney repairs and leadwork
Chimneys and roof junctions are the most exposed parts of a roof. Crumbling pointing and failed flashings let water in quietly. We inspect them closely and describe the repair needed. We cannot comment on the structural suitability of a chimney without inspecting it first.
- Repointing and repair of chimney stacks after inspection
- Lead flashings, soakers and step flashings renewed
- Weatherproofing of valleys, abutments and other roof junctions

Roof windows
A roof window brings daylight into loft rooms and dark landings. Position matters for light, headroom and the existing rafters, and the opening has to be integrated into the roof covering so it stays watertight. We talk through placement and the practical work involved.
- Advice on suitable positions, size and the existing roof structure
- Roof window set into the slate or tile covering with flashings
- Coordination of internal finishing, agreed before work starts

Roof inspections
If you are unsure what is wrong, or simply want to know the condition of your roof before buying, selling or after a storm, an inspection gives you facts to act on. We look at the whole roof and the roofline, explain what we see and set out sensible next steps.
- Visual assessment of coverings, flashings and roofline
- Findings explained in plain English, with photographs where useful
- Clear next steps, whether that is monitoring, repair or replacement
Making the decision
Repair or replacement?
A repair is often enough when
- Damage is limited to a few tiles, slates or a flashing
- The leak has been traced to one clear cause
- Battens and timbers beneath are sound
- The covering still has useful life
Replacement is worth considering when
- Problems keep returning in different places
- Tiles or slates are failing across large areas
- Timbers or underlay have deteriorated
- Repair cost is approaching the cost of a new roof
Only an assessment can say which applies to your roof.

Questions
Roofing questions, answered
This concept does not set prices. A real business would state clearly whether assessments and quotes are free before you book, and we would expect the same here.
Small repairs can be quick, but the honest answer depends on access, weather and what the assessment finds. We agree timings with you in advance rather than promising a fixed turnaround.
Often, yes, particularly for replacement roofs, chimney work and anything at height. Where scaffolding is needed it is set out in the written quote so it is not a surprise.
Hidden problems such as rotten battens or timbers are possible on older roofs. We would stop, show you, explain the options and agree any change in writing before continuing.
Often a close match is possible, though old materials weather over time and an exact match is not always available. We would show you the options and explain the difference.
Many roof windows fall under permitted development, but listed buildings, conservation areas and some flats have different rules. Check with your local planning authority and we can discuss the roof side of the work.
